Heather is a final year PhD student in the English Department at the University of Exeter, supported by the AHRC South West and Wales DTP. Her thesis, ‘Hairwork in Victorian Literature and Culture’, explores how the crafting of objects out of human hair came to shape and frame bodies, identities and relationships in the Victorian imagination, with a focus on the writings of the Brontës, Wilkie Collins, Margaret Oliphant, and Robert and Elizabeth Barrett Browning.
