Call for Papers: Keywords Redux

In 2018, VLC published “Keywords for Victorian Literature and Culture,” a double-issue consisting of over one hundred short essays meant to provide a snapshot of the interests and issues animating the field of Victorian studies at the time. For a fifth-anniversary “Keywords Redux,” we invite submissions (1200-word maximum) that either address a term absent from the earlier issue or productively revisit an existing term. As with the original “Keywords,” we seek contributions that are not encyclopedia-style “entries” but rather mini-essays that stake out a position, make an argument, promote an agenda.

Please see the table of contents of the Keywords issue (46.3/4) for a list of terms discussed there. Possible new keywords are legion, but those we are eager to see addressed include: death, digital, discipline, extraction, food, humanities, indigineity, liberal, public, race, trans, and Victorian.

Please direct queries and proposals to the editors at victorianlitandculture@gmail.com. The submissions portal can be accessed at our website: www.cambridge.org/vlc. For information about formatting, see: https://www.cambridge.org/core/journals/victorian-literature-and-culture/information/instructions-contributors.

The deadline for submissions is December 31, 2022.
