Dr Lauren Ianthe Cullen is a SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of British Columbia, Canada. She was awarded her D.Phil. in English Language and Literature from the University of Oxford, where she was also a SSHRC Doctoral Fellow. Her research interests include nineteenth-century literature and culture, critical animal studies, and the environmental humanities. Within nineteenth-century studies, her work examines animal-human relationships, cultural histories of settler-colonialism, and early Canadian literature. She is completing a manuscript about representations of animals in popular forms of fiction while also laying the groundwork for a second project about early Canadian cultural forms, ecological thinking, and environmental crisis.
