For my PhD, I'm researching fashion and clothing in Victorian literature. Specifically, the works of Elizabeth Gaskell, Mary Elizabeth Braddon, Wilkie Collins and Margaret Oliphant. As such, my research interests are Victorian dress, material culture, visual culture, fashion theory and gender. I also have an interest in Victorian periodicals and magazines, especially those that focus predominantly on dress, such as women's magazines.
