I am a PhD student, researching Victorian Aestheticism and its connections with 19th-century (aesthetics of) music. I am very passionate about the Victorian experience of art and music and the spectator's experience of the work of art.
I am also interested in the human body in the artwork, especially a spectator's engagement with a fictional, artistic human body in a variety of media (painting vs. sculpture, for example).
I am particularly interested in the meeting place of modernity and antiquity in 19th-century art, as well as philosophical concepts of beauty, taste, and how these are played out in aesthetics. |
